Because of our "moving out and moving back in" fiasco Niels and I are just getting settled back into our house and I FINALLY get to start my nesting phase to get ready for our little girl. That said, because it so late in the game (Eeek I am less than 7 from my due date) and we hadn't been able to do any shopping in advance (no where to store anything we bought) we are a bit behind the ball because many of the larger nursery items (like cribs and changing tables) can take 8 weeks to order !
After days of looking at nursery furniture online, Niels and I took a lunch date yesterday to go to a baby store to get a feel for our options. After 30 minutes of wandering we were pretty discouraged... everything that was good looking and good quality was rediculously expensive and everything else was poor quality and not eco-friendly/baby safe. We asked the sales lady if they carried a nice line of furniture we had seen online, and she said, "perhaps we have something in the clearance room". It was like the clouds parted and rays of sunshine came streaming down from the heavens. As you can imagine, my eyes lit up at the sound of my favorite word: "CLEARANCE".
We scoured the clearance room, which seemed to be where they were keeping the coolest stuff but it was still really expensive or already labelled sold... Then we look again and see that we had mis-read the tag on the coolest of the cool items and the marked price was for BOTH the crib and the dresser/changing table not just the crib - which is a 50% discount from the original price. So basically, we got our dream nursery set on the cheap and hence I am a very happy mama. Check it out: Litto Kids Manhatten
Now we have the dresser and crib but are thinking of splurging for the library (book shelf) because it is just too cool to not have.
