Tiptoeing Through Tulips

We took advantage of the sunny Sunday afternoon and Niels finally (after many years of begging) allowed us to head up to the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival for the blooming of the tulips. Combine a gorgeous girl and fields full of pretty flowers and you end up with some great photos if I do say so myself :-).

After the tulips, Niels got a wild hair and came up with the idea of driving over deception pass to Whidbey Island and having an early dinner at a Dutch restaurant we had once visited and loved called Het Kasteel.  Turns out the restaurant is "under new management" and is now the Kasteel Imperial Gardens and offers Chinese takeout. Lame!  Needless to say we kept driving.

We ended up driving the whole length of Whidbey and took Camden on her first boat/ferry ride from Clinton to Mukilteo.  It was late in the day and after sitting in ferry traffic for 90 minutes, she was NOT happy and definitely NOT in the mood to be the photo model she had been earlier in the afternoon.
