and the result of the ultrasound showed...... drum roll please.... that our little girl is practically perfect in every way!!! Mostly importantly, her kidneys were back to normal size so no further concern there. Here is how she measured out, at the time of the ultrasound she was 28 weeks and 2 days:
Head circumference: 25.7 cm (27w 6d)
Biparietal diameter (head side to side): 70 mm (28w 0d)
Abdominal circumference: 24.6 cm (28w 6d)
Femur Length: 59 mm (30w 5d)
Weight: 1371 grams / 3.0 lbs (53% for her age)
If you take a close look at the numbers, you may have caught that all her measurements were right around her developmental age, EXCEPT her femur length which was 2 1/2 weeks bigger than what one would expect for her age. The theory is that munchkin is and will be TALL! Not a far stretch of the imagination given her mom and dad and our family genetics (geeez, look at her two uncles Josh & Morgan!)
So the biggest event of the day was when the tech was taking some face shots and we saw her taking her hand and rubbing her face and then proceed to give us a HUGE yawn!!! It was about the cutest, most amazing thing I have ever seen. Daddy and Granny (who attended as well) were also in awe. It really made Niels and I realize, Holy Crap! There is a little human inside Helen!!! Even better is that Scholarpedia says:
Fetal yawning indicates a harmonious progress in the development of both the
brainstem and the peripheral neuromuscular function
Our girl is gonna be a smarty-pants, look how well she is developing!
